A few minutes north of the city of Malaga is the Natural Park of the Montes de Málaga. A privileged environment for the practice of MTB full of trails and singletracks. In addition, it is not difficult to find raptors, squirrels, rabbits, reptiles, or even at sunset, the occasional wild boar.
There are many routes within this environment, but today, we are going to focus on the Mirador del Jabalí route, which will take us deep into the forest. You can get this route here
The day starts
We start our route from the Ciudad Jardín Sports Center taking North direction. After just over a Km, a hard climb begins that will leave us at the entrance of the Natural Park.
The road begins with a moderate climb surrounded by a lush pine forest that, as we go along, becomes steeper. The terrain in the steepest areas becomes a bit more irregular, but it is perfect for the XC, both with hardtail and full suspension that Fast Monkey Bike Rental in Malaga offers.

Malaga Natural Park
After approximately 2.5 km from the entrance of the Natural Park we will reach a flat terrain that will allow us to catch our breath after a demanding climb from less to more.
But we have only just begun, we will take the detour to the left to find a steep slope of 1 km to give way to a rapid descent to the bed of the Cañada de Guijarros. From this point we have a long climb of 10 km.
This section does not have a strong slope, but it is constant, so it is not a bad idea to take it with some calm.
We will find a large esplanade with an old forest house, Casa Contreras, which served as accommodation for Forest Guards over 100 years ago. From here we can enjoy the incredible views of the city of Malaga while we take the opportunity to eat and drink a little.

The famous statue
We continue our way along this stretch of smooth but steady ascent until we begin a short but rapid descent to the main road through the Park. From here begins a very hard climb of 3.5 km to reach the mythical Mirador del Jabalí. Without a doubt, we deserve a little break to admire the surroundings.
And let’s not forget to immortalize the moment with a photo on the statue of the wild boar to prove that we have arrived. Fast Monkey Bike Rental in Malaga already has it.

But we are not finished yet.
We must continue the climb for at least 1 km more. We will start the stretch of singletracks that will leave us in the Cortijo de Contadoras and the surroundings of the Fuente de la Reina and Puerto del León, 900 meters above the level sea.
From this point, it is already a long descent of 15 km to the starting point. In total we rode around 46 Km with almost 1400m of gain.
